POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides child care to infants and preschool children in the Child Watch Program at the Delaware Family YMCA. This is a part-time position.

 

GENERAL WORK SCHEDULE:

The child watch aide will be scheduled to work about 15  hours per week.  Must be available to work on weekdays starting at 5 pm and weekends from 8 am - 1 pm.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provides a safe and secure environment for children. Performs safety checks.
  2. Implements check-in/out procedures and follows all policies. Performs required administrative tasks.
  3. Attends to the needs of all children in the program.
  4. Sets up toys and equipment to be used and ensures proper storage when done.
  5. Develops and maintains positive relationships with children, parents and staff. Communicates effectively.
  6. Anticipates problems and finds appropriate solutions.
  7. Follows and enforces department protocol to clean and disinfect commonly used surfaces.  Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the program/work area. Enforces PPE compliance.
  8. Communicates concerns to management for improvement or intervention.
  9. Attends and participates in required training sessions and staff meetings.
  10. Carries out other tasks as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be a responsible, dependable individual with experience caring for infants and preschool age children.
  2. Excellent communications skills.
  3. Ability to interact with and care for children in an age appropriate manner.
