The Indiana University Foundation (IUF) is seeking a collaborative, driven, and creative Database Administrator to join the Systems Infrastructure Team!

 

As the sole Database Administrator on the team, the DBA is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting the RDBMS infrastructure for information systems and users supported by the IU Alumni Association (IUAA)  and IUF.  This position is a key member of the Systems Infrastructure team and collaborates with the team to share in the day-to-day responsibilities of general infrastructure administration.

 

The Database Administrator will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance and optimization of RDBMS engines (MS SQL Server (primary), Oracle, and others as necessary) in accordance with industry best practices and IU standards and will work collaboratively with the team to develop and implement plans for keeping RDBMS engines patched and on supported versions. This position requires a highly proactive MSSQL Administrator, who is always analyzing practices, and finding better, more efficient, and secure ways to operate. While database administration will be the primary responsibility of this position, it will also have systems administration responsibilities. This position requires a service- oriented individual, as they will be the first contact to troubleshoot for database related issues and will also serve as the lead point of contact for the Systems Infrastructure team on a rotating basis.

Minimum Requirements

·         Bachelor’s degree in an information technology or related discipline; or equivalent work experience

·         Minimum of 5 years of experience managing MSSQL

·         Experience with Windows Server Operating system administration

·         Excellent customer service skills and the ability to build trust with the customer

·         Attention to detail and quality

·         Strong follow-through skills

·         Demonstrated analytical ability for problem solving

·         Self-directed

·         Natural curiosity, always enthusiastic to learn

·         Ability to manage many details and priorities

 

Preferred Qualifications

·         5+ years’ experience with MSSQL management

·         Experience with Cloud Computing

·         Experience with Oracle RDBMS

The Advancement Technology, Information, and Support Services department provides the systems infrastructure (hardware and application software), data, and user support that the IU Foundation and IU Alumni Association staff need to do their jobs. The department serves IU by making advancement information accessible to users of our systems and by providing security and privacy for donor records and financial information.
