Job description

We're seeking a Local Area Network Administrator who will contribute to the Network Operations Branch Team, is quick to learn, and is eager to grow with the company. This position will assist in the day-to-day management of the BAMC Local Area Network (LAN), including troubleshooting configuration changes and other sustainment activities.

Full Job Description:

• Perform configuration changes on the Local Area Network, i.e. configuring data ports, building VLANS, configuring trunk interfaces, pruning VLANs, spanning-tree configuration, and switching virtual interfaces (SVIs), building ether-channels, and adding or removing a switch from a switch stack. Configuration changes will be issued individually in tickets or be part of a larger overall project.

• Perform troubleshooting on the local area network and collaborate with Enterprise resources for assistance with troubleshooting devices managed at an enterprise level.

• Use basic knowledge of Ethernet communication to interpret data from a packet capture to aid with network troubleshooting.

• Perform IP management by creating DHCP Scopes and IP reservations on a Windows-based DHCP server.

• Patch network equipment as part of Cybersecurity requirements.

• Assist other System Administrators with properly creating and submitting Ports Protocols and System (PPS) documentation.

• Use packet captures and read-only commands on the firewall to show traffic behavior as it passes through the firewall to aid in the creation of the PPS when needed.

• Perform on-call duty rotation on evenings, weekends, and holidays to fix critical network outages and may be required to return to the worksite to resolve.

• Assist the data center manager by providing periodic checks of the data center or checking the air conditioners for functionality during electrical maintenance. The contractor shall report any problems to BAMC facilities in the absence of the Data Center Manager.

• Prioritize jobs produced by customer/department. Contact the customers after their jobs have been completed.

• Remain in contact with the requestor/customer on the request status and contact the requestor/customer when a job is completed.

• Utilize the most cost-effective use of materials used for projects.

• Develop, review, and maintain procedures used by requestor/customers and the EMIC pertaining to job submissions and completed jobs distribution. The Government will review new and changed procedures and give the final approval before implementing.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of one (1) year of network administration experience in a local area network consisting of ten (10) network devices.

• Basic understanding of IP addressing, subnetting, and supernetting using IPv4.

• Meet the requirements for an IAT Level II position as defined in DOD 8570-01-M (any one of these following certifications meets the requirement: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Sec+CE, CND, SSCP, CISSP, CCSP, CISA, GCED, GCIH)

• CCNA preferred but not required.
