Senior Resident Services Coordinator, Edmands House, Framingham, MA

General Statement of Duties:  The Senior RSC is responsible for assessing and ensuring the delivery of appropriate self-help and community support services and programs to residents that will enhance their quality of life and meet identified special needs.

 

Supervision Received:  Reports to Vice President of Resident Services and Property Manager.

 

Supervision Exercised:  May supervise Resident Services/Community Programming Coordinators

(“RS/CPC’s”) at assigned communities in a region.

 

FLSA:  Exempt

 

  • Essential Functions of the Position: (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all that may be found in positions of this class.)
  • Builds a sense of community by working with the RS/CPC’s to ensure appropriate programs are offered to residents that will help bridge differences among residents and create linkages to the community.  Demonstrated ability to identify and assess resident resources/needs.
  • Fosters a positive, active and collaborative relationship with residents, communities and associated private/government agencies that supports the mission and values of Beacon Communities.  Ensures effective work relationships with RS/CPC colleagues, corporate office staff and Property Management team.
  • Enforces and adheres to company policies, rules and regulations.
  • Coordinates programming among assigned communities.
  • Develops/updates “Resident Services Policies and Procedures Manual” with Vice President of Resident Services.
  • Supervises RS/CPC’s.  Interviews and helps select RS/CPC job candidates. Conducts RS/CPC performance evaluations and recommends termination decisions with Property Manager.
  • Trains new RS/CPC’s in established best practices, to include the following:
  • Creates Power-Point slide show for overview of Beacon’s Resident Services.
  • Conducts orientation with new RS/CPC’s.
  • Monitors first 90 days of employment of all new RS/CPC’s.
  • Assists in the development of a “Resident Resource Directory” for each community.
  • Trains how to use the “Policies and Procedures Manual” as a guide.
  • Regularly communicates with Property Management Staff regarding staff and community needs.
  • Routinely solicits feedback from residents regarding their needs and level of service satisfaction.
  • Assists Vice President of Resident Services in evaluating the future potential of a non-profit arm to support residents at Beacon’s subsidized communities.
  • Perform other duties, special projects as requested by VP, Resident Services.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:  M.S.W., M.A. in Counseling, Human Services or B.S. in related field preferred.  Minimum 3 year’s social work/human services experience or comparable work experience.  Bilingual English/Spanish preferable.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Adequate knowledge of mental health, addictions, family issues, multicultural issues and elderly service delivery system.  Ability to effectively work with elders and disabled individuals.  Self-starter. Ability to work independently.  Ability to plan, organize and lead as appropriate to servicing resident needs.  Able and willing to work cooperatively with community agencies.  Strong interpersonal skills.  Fluent in English.  Bilingual capabilities may be required.  Patient, pleasant and professional demeanor.  Ability to make sound decisions in a rational manner; to handle emergency situations and pressure due to complexity and time sensitivity; and to be an active team member within the company.  Preserves and respects resident and applicant confidentiality.
