Seeking an experienced Product Designer to design competencies and structures needed to deliver on product strategies and solutions while mentoring and driving the Product Design team. 

The Sr. Product Designer focuses on detailed design and discovery work, operating alongside the team’s current development efforts to evaluate and execute on the fit, form, and function of various potential solutions. They’re able to connect product strategy through to product execution, supporting a creative, collaborative, and customer-centric approach to product development.

Industry Knowledge, Networking and Subject Matter Expertise:

  • Has a sound understanding of the current strategy and objectives of the business and its place in the greater industry, and the impact product design has on the success of the business.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of users, their needs and how a given product will deliver value.

  • Demonstrates best practice and depth of skill when designing UI, interaction design patterns, paradigms, and workflows to prototype ideas and solve new, complex interaction problems.

  • Actively networks and takes direction from experienced designers on how to best align their efforts with the business and their personal growth ambitions.

Duties/Responsibilities/Primary Function:

  • Solves problems by delivering functional application UI and Interaction designs using a perspective based on the analysis of multiple sources of information including data and user research.

Required Skills/Abilities/Profile: 

  • Demonstrates a willingness to lead smaller design projects.

  • Able to drive a small group of contributors towards an incremental goal.

  • Limited experience of prioritizing, planning, and coordinating effort across a small, tightly scoped project or area of improvement.

  • Experienced with synthesizing feedback from research activities to test/validate ideas.

  • Limited experience of planning, conducting, and analyzing strategic research activities, necessary to discover, understand, and define the scope and nature of users’ problems.

  • Limited experience of utilizing a hypothesis-driven approach to research and design, using an experimental methodology to identify minimum viable solutions to users’ problems.

  • Iteratively validates assumptions and learning through fast, frequent feedback loops.

  • Regularly utilizes data to inform design decisions.

  • Experiments with new design methods, tools, or techniques.

  • Participates in research with the product team actively collaborating in the analysis and resulting decisions.

  • Actively contributes to shared pattern libraries.

  • Has strong experience with visual design, user interface design (UI), and prototyping.

  • Exhibits familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research, persona development, user experience design (UX), information architecture and journey mapping.

Education and Experience:

  • At least 5 years related experience required. 

  • Bachelors OR Masters preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer of up to 8hrs per day.

  • Occasional travel for client or team meetings

  • Remote work environment supported by resources necessary for an effective home office
